The Saugerties Artists Studio Tour is now in its seventh year. In keeping with this year's Hudson Quadricentennial celebrations we became an official partner in New York State's Explore NY activities. Twenty five artists from the Tour are participating in a large community event in the creation of public art. We are making "Quad" themed (i.e.-Hudson River, Lake Champlain and/or Fulton Steamboat) art and temporarily placing the works all over the Town and Village of Saugerties for everyone to discover.
Join the Hunt to locate the twenty-four works of art incorporating 18"x18" golden frames that we are hiding in plain sight for all to see- but, please leave the art for the next Treasure Hunter to find.
The works will be found indoors and outdoors scattered throughout the Village and Township. Each box will have a number corresponding to the maker's number on the Saugerties Artists Studio Tour™ map. To help you on your Hunt, use the clues below (a downloadable pdf will be available soon,) the clues will also be published in the local papers and posted in a window at the Inquiring Mind Bookstore & Cafè.
On Saturday, August 29, 6pm to 8pm join us at The Inquiring Mind Bookstore & Cafè (formerly the Muddy Cup). Treasure hunters who attend the August 29 show opening will be eligible to win a gift certificate to a Saugerties restaurant!

  • A penny for your thoughts say I, near painted hoofs youšll find me. (Alex Kveton)

  • I'm BY t-v, not ON it... I'll give you 23 seconds to guess where. CABLE me when you're sure. (Barbara Bravo)

  • I'll leave a great big LIGHT on for you...Hows that! (Michael Ciccone)
  • I was a maid, then I was a wife.
We came to the New World to start a new life.
    But a new life took me ere I was one and twenty;
my child, not I, walked this land of plenty.
From Aesculus' Crown I watch below as iron wagons rush to and fro.
An argent stag for company I keep, I wander in shadows,
I dream, yet I do not sleep.
(Please tread lightly, I share my prospect. Others here too deserve your respect.) (Polly M. Law)
  • There's a VILLAGE pot to carry. (Steve Crohn)
  • The DAM where no free water flows. (Susan Sammis Goldson)
  • Her hiding spot is CREATIVE. She has an INSTINCT. (Frances Gunderud)
  • About BOUQUET, not flowers. (Annick Magac)
  • Listen to your MOTHER. (Shelley Davis)

  • If you find this box of Art/ An adventure you may start
Listen well to your desires/ Thricely come to light the fires
On the route you have begun/ Dressed in twos there is a one
Freshly gathered from the ground/ Speak your wish! Abundance found!
Senses full, one need not ask/ Why take on this artful task?
Put up your feet and cap your pen/ Happy as a fat WOLD WREN. (Viorica & Hugh Morris Stan)
  • Swans could fly over and see it, but they won't. Swans don't find humans beautiful, or the river magical if they aren't on it. For them, the only art is their reflection in the water. (Tad Richards)
  • The "X" is the place to be. (Jacquie Roland)
  • My work is all about LIGHT...HOWS that? (Allen Bryan)
  • You're looking for 1611...
you're looking for abstract, say I
    You're looking for Abacuk Prickett...
while looking for cold treats to buy. (Istar Schwager)
