Michael Nelson has been photographing in the Hudson Valley for over 35 years ever since graduating from Rochester Institute of Technology. Originally from the foothills of Virginia, he found a kinship with the same mountain range in the Hudson Highlands and decided to make this area his home.
Over these past years Michael has taught through various organizations, from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, to the Storm King Art Center, The Museum of the Hudson Highlands, as well as numerous workshops in Saugerties at his studio. Michael has also been active in exhibiting in numerous venues and galleries. At present, he is part of Hudson River Maritime exhibit on "Faces of Work" in Kingston,NY.
His work has appeared in the New York Times, National Geographic, Bon Apetit Magazine, Hudson Valley Magazine, and many non profit organization publications. His studio is at the Old Saugerties Speakeasy at 11 Jane St.
